Assassin’s Creed Shadows Might Be Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
It looks like our long-running dream of a proper Assassin’s Creed game on a Nintendo console might finally be coming true. Word on the street is that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is heading to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and honestly, I’m kind of losing it.
For those not totally caught up — AC Shadows is Ubisoft’s highly anticipated dive into feudal Japan. Yep, we’re talking samurai, shinobi, ancient castles, and probably a whole lot of sneaky rooftop parkour. Fans have been asking for this setting for what feels like forever, and it’s finally happening.
What makes things even more interesting is that recent leaks and insider reports suggest this game won’t be exclusive to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It seems Ubisoft might also be working on a version for the Nintendo Switch 2. One of the biggest hints came from a PEGI rating listing, which briefly showed a possible Switch 2 release.
If you’re unfamiliar, PEGI is the rating system used across several countries like India, South Africa, Latin America, and Israel. It’s considered simpler and more direct compared to the ESRB ratings used in North America — and over the years, it’s become a widely trusted standard for game content classification.
That’s why this PEGI listing raised a few eyebrows. Sure, it could be a harmless mistake — since big reveals are typically handled directly by Ubisoft and Nintendo. But when you stack this alongside everything we’ve heard about the Switch 2 being powerful enough to handle games like Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077, plus insider chatter from Nash Weedle, it’s hard not to get your hopes up.
Speaking of Nash Weedle, the reliable leaker recently teased that Nintendo has another major showcase lined up, featuring loads of third-party titles. If Assassin’s Creed Shadows is truly in development for the Switch 2, it’s a safe bet it might debut there — and maybe even alongside a few other Assassin’s Creed classics.
Ubisoft has had a bit of a mixed history with Nintendo hardware — from the quirky success of Mario + Rabbids to those cloud-streamed versions of Assassin’s Creed. But having a proper, native port of Shadows would be a huge deal for both the fans and the Switch 2’s reputation.
As someone who loves gaming on the go, I’m all for this. Just picture wandering through ancient Kyoto, scaling temple walls, or sneaking past guards while you’re hanging out at a coffee shop or on a long train ride. Absolute vibes.
Now, nothing’s official yet — Ubisoft and Nintendo haven’t made any announcements. But with these strong hints piling up, it’s something fans can definitely keep on their radar.
Would you pick up Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the Switch 2 if it drops? I know I’d grab it on Day One, no questions asked.
