Update: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered — Leaked Screenshots, Shadow Drop Rumors & What We Know
The long-rumored remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion looks like it might actually be happening — and it could drop as early as next week!
Over the weekend, a bunch of screenshots allegedly popped up online after being found on a tucked-away section of developer Virtuos’ website.
These images show a remastered version of Oblivion, and let me tell you, the improvements in stuff like the environment, lighting, and character models are pretty noticeable.
Even though the pages have been taken down, the buzz is spreading like wildfire on forums like ResetEra and Reddit.
Reports from VGC and others say this remaster is a teamwork gig between Virtuos, Bethesda Dallas, and Bethesda Rockville.
While we’re still waiting for the green light from Bethesda, industry insider Jeff Grubb dropped some hints in a podcast, mentioning a shadow drop could be on the way — possibly around April 21.
To make things even more exciting, there’s talk of a Deluxe Edition coming our way, which could pack in new weapons and the infamous horse armor — a cheeky reference to that somewhat notorious DLC from 2006.
We’re expecting the game to be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S (Game Pass), and PlayStation 5, with the whole thing being built on Unreal Engine 5.
While Bethesda is keeping silent, the amount of info that’s out there suggests we might be pretty close to the release.
If this shadow drop theory holds true, we could see the game go live in the digital shops without any big announcements — you know, like the stealth launches that are becoming all the rage.
This isn’t the first time we’ve chatted about this either. In our previous article, we dug into where these rumors started and why some fans were skeptical.
But now, with actual leaked visuals and some credible sources pointing to a release window, it’s starting to feel super legit.
